Since May 1, 2006, the WG for Heart Failure has operated a registry to collect the data of patients that are visiting a heart failure clinic for the first time. This registry makes it possible for the first time to provide information about this disease based on Austrian data.
Each patient who is visiting a verified special outpatient clinic for the first time can be characterised on the basis of a standardised questionnaire. It is also possible to make statements about anamnesis, diagnoses (determined locally as well as brought in externally), lab results and therapy.
A follow-up will be performed after one year
A first evaluation of the data was published in issue 3-4 2010 of the Journal of Cardiology.

Based on the data of the BEAUTIFUL Study, the WG for Heart Failure has performed an analysis of the registry data focusing on the relevance of an increased resting pulse rate while resting. Here it could be shown that in real life, those patients who had a resting pulse rate of 70/min or more showed a worse prognosis than those with a low resting pulse rate.
This analysis was published in the Wiener Klinischen Wochenschrift (Vienna’s Clinical Weekly) (ViennaKlinWochenschr 2011; 123: 378-383)
