Aims for 2012
Improvement of the structure of the experimental working group
- Integration of the Austrian cardiologic scientific working groups
- Involvation of the PhD students, scientific persons, MTA in the Working Group
- Funding of innovative projects and topics, intensification of contract research programs
- Presentation of the work of the scientific teams, publishing short communications in a special edition of the J Kardiol 2012
Common Congressorganization:
- Weissensee, Cardiovascular Research Days 2012 (common organisation with the working group of ATVB)
- End of Sept. 2012 together with the CD Laboratory for Cardiac and Thoracic Diagnosis and Regeneration: Proceedings with the Heart Surgery, involving the MTAs and PhDs
ÖKG Homepage:
- GLP, GMP, FDA Guidelines for Science
- Core Facilities: "we offer...", "we search..."
Fundamental objective
- Building a bridge between basic research and clinical cardiology:
–Clinical questions should be directed to the experimental cardiologist
–New experimental data should be checked for their clinical relevance
–The common goal is the patient’s well-being
Historic objective
- Promotion of advanced training on a national level
- Enabling the promotions of the “new” discipline (1992) in Austria
- Information exchange with other ASC work groups as well as shared use of expensive equipment
- Interdisciplinary exchange through brainstorming sessions and fireplace chats between individual research directions (physiology, experimental surgery, experimental and clinical cardiology, biochemistry, physics)
- Updating the state of knowledge in the specialised area
Ways to achieve the goals
- 24 autonomous domestic and international advanced training symposiums (e.g. joing meeting with the Slovenian Society of Cardiology or 17th Meeting of the Working Group on Cardiac Cellular Electrophysiology of the European Society of Cardiology in Graz together with the WG for experimental cardiology of the ASC )
- 15 advanced training symposiums and joint symposiums with other WGs in the scope of the annual meetings of the ASC and ASIM
- Fellowship to a young experimental cardiologist by ASC to Israel, 2x to Harvard
- Founding an international professional journal (Journal of Clinical and Basic Cardiology) together with the Alpe-Adria-Society of Cardiology, the International Society of Heart failure and the International Academy of Cardiology 1997
Perspectives of the future
- Formation of clusters with other WGs to realise the goal of collaboration
- Improvement of structures in the scope of research sponsorship - collaboration with heart foundations?
- Promotion of innovative projects and themes
- Financing?
- Quantum physics in cardiology
