In principle, this scholarship can be awarded on a project or personal basis and is designed exclusively for scientific research. Courses on learning scientific-experimental methods or courses for clinical advanced education and training are expressly excluded from the sponsorship.
1.1 Project-related scholarship:
1.1.1. Sponsorship of the development of cardiology in Austria. Only institutions in Austria can be recipients.
1.2 Personal scholarship:
1.2.1. Sponsorship for developing cardiology in the country that the beneficiary originated from.
1.2.2. Benefits for cardiological research in Austria resulting from the scientific activities of a qualified researcher at an Austrian institution.
1.2.3. Creation of long-term associations with cardiological departments and societies in other countries
2.1. Project-related scholarship:
2.1.1. Maximum € 18,168.21
2.2 Personal scholarship:
2.2.1. Maximum € 1,452.46 gross
2.2.2. The evaluation is performed according to the beneficiary’s respective education level and cost of living. For students without qualification, a rough estimate (contract for 10 hours of services/week) is about € 290.96 / month; for students with scientific experience, post-graduates and physicians in training, about € 726.63 / month and the maximum amount for trained physicians, biochemists and biologists.
3.1 Project-related scholarship:
3.1.1. 12 to 24 months
3.2 Personal scholarship:
3.2.1. 6 months to 12 months (extension to a maximum of 24 months is possible upon presentation of an interim report ). An extension for more than 24 months is not permitted.
4.1 Submission of a detailed research plan by the project manager
4.2 Submission of an expected total budget for the research project (personnel costs, material costs; no sponsorship of lab equipment)
4.3 Confirmation of an assurance of the research projected through other approved third-party funding (if the total research volume exceeds the sponsorship amount)
4.4 Presentation of a detailed final report about the completed research results and mention of any publications
4.5 Mention of the research scholarship in any publications
4.6 Willingness to present the research results on the occasion of the ASC’s Annual Meeting (as a poster or a lecture, depending on the decision of the management board)
5.1 Project-related scholarship:
5.1.1. The research must take place at an Austrian institution. The majority of the research work for the submitted project must be performed in Austria
5.2 Personal scholarship:
5.2.1. The scholarship can be awarded to Austrians for domestic or foreign research projects and to foreigners with the corresponding qualification in Austria
5.2.2. There is no general age limit. However, preference will be given to persons under 40 years old
5.2.3. Proof of previous research activities
5.2.4. Written recommendations
5.2.5. Approval by the domestic or foreign institution
5.2.6. Securing permission to work before starting the scholarship
6.1 The scholarship applications will be sent to two independent assessors (of which one is foreign).
"6.2 The evaluation is performed according to a score based on the following evaluation criteria: Innovation level, methodology, financing volume, scheduled time, degree of importance (high - medium - low)"
6.3 The managing board of the ASC will decide which scholarship requests will be granted during its conference at the Annual Meeting of the ASC
6.4 The scholarship recipients will be publicly announced during the general assembly.
